Our Approach To
Data Visualisation

At Splenvo, we take a design-centric approach to translating complex data into accessible, actionable insight. Our goal is to help organisations tell meaningful stories through data—enabling better communication, deeper understanding, and informed decision-making.

Reduce Cognitive Load

We prioritise simplicity, guiding the reader through logical structure and visual flow for better understanding.

Maintain Accuracy

Our visual design ensures data is represented faithfully, avoiding distortion or misleading emphasis.

Support Decision Making

We select the most effective visual formats to enhance insight and encourage informed analysis.

Overview

We created two public sector data visualisation projects—one on the UK housing market and another on refugee statistics. Each resulted in a four-page report designed to turn complex data into accessible insights. Fully optimised for desktop, tablet, and mobile, the reports balance analytical depth with clarity, helping audiences better understand key trends.

Design Focus

We focused on achieving clarity through thoughtful design. By structuring narrative flow and applying consistent visual hierarchy, we ensured users could easily navigate and interpret the data. Every visual element—charts, colours, typography—was chosen to support readability and purpose.

Solution

The UK housing market report was structured to communicate affordability trends across regions, starting with a one-page executive summary followed by detailed visualisations using maps, charts, and comparative indicators. The refugee statistics report presented national asylum data in a similarly modular format—breaking down year-on-year trends and regional distributions. Both projects share a consistent visual system designed for clarity and scalability. The final outputs are lightweight, mobile-friendly PDF reports that can be shared, embedded, or adapted for ongoing use across platforms.

Progress Highlight

Our process was iterative and purpose-driven. We started by defining core messages and mapping content flow. Through wireframes and early drafts, we tested structure, refined hierarchy, and designed with flexibility and future updates in mind.

Results

These reports helped our clients present data with clarity and confidence. They increased engagement, supported informed conversations, and became valuable tools for both communication and ongoing dialogue.
